Thrombotic events occur more frequently in patients with MPNs than healthy controls, and studies have shown that this could be due to platelet hyperactivation. Additionally, other studies demonstrated that JAK2-mutated platelets can activate neutrophils, which form neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) and can promote thrombosis.
